Brew Crew’s Winning Run Ends, but Future Burns Bright

The Milwaukee Brewers’ recent surge was halted last night as the Cincinnati Reds snapped their eight-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory. TJ Friedl’s game-saving catch robbed Jake Bauers of a potential game-tying home run, securing the Reds’ win. Despite the loss, Christian Yelich extended his hitting streak to 10 games, contributing an RBI single in the first inning.

The Brewers had previously completed a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies, marking their longest winning streak since 2023. Jake Bauers played a pivotal role with a go-ahead two-run double in the seventh inning of the final game against the Phillies.

In injury news, outfielder Christian Yelich suffered a right hand contusion after being hit by a pitch against the Phillies. Although he remained in the game briefly, he was later replaced. Prior to the injury, Yelich had been on a hot streak, batting .472 with five home runs over eight games.

On the prospect front, third baseman Brock Wilken was named the Brewers’ Minor League Player of the Month for May, hitting nine home runs and leading the Southern League in slugging percentage. Right-hander Jacob Misiorowski earned Pitcher of the Month honors, posting a 2.83 ERA for Triple-A Nashville and making headlines with a 103-mph strikeout pitch.

Looking ahead, the Brewers and Reds are tied in their three-game series, which concludes today. The Brewers aim to regain momentum and continue their push toward playoff contention.
