Brewers Look to Bounce Back as Cardinals Series Begins at Home

MILWAUKEE, WI — After a mixed stretch of recent games, the Milwaukee Brewers return home to American Family Field for a pivotal four-game series against division rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals, beginning Thursday, June 12.

The Brewers are currently sitting at 36–33, holding third place in the NL Central and aiming to gain ground in a tightly contested division. Their upcoming matchups against the Cardinals and a two-game road trip to face the Chicago Cubs next week could be key to shifting mid-season momentum.

Recent Game Recap: Braves Take Series

Milwaukee is coming off a tough three-game series against the Atlanta Braves, where they dropped two of three:

  • June 12: The Brewers were stifled by Braves rookie Spencer Schwellenbach, who threw a complete game in Atlanta’s 6–2 victory. Schwellenbach struck out nine while limiting Milwaukee to just two runs.
  • June 11: In a highlight win, Quinn Priester led the way with six strong innings, giving up only one run and striking out seven. Jackson Chourio and Jake Bauers homered in the 4–1 win.
  • June 10: The series opener saw Chris Sale dominate the Brewers lineup, striking out 11 as Milwaukee fell 7–1. Aaron Civale took the loss after giving up multiple homers.

Standout Performers

Despite the up-and-down results, several Brewers continue to shine:

  • Jackson Chourio, Milwaukee’s young phenom, is batting .268 with 32 home runs, 118 RBIs, and 35 stolen bases so far this season — putting together a serious case for an All-Star nod.
  • Christian Yelich recently earned NL Player of the Week honors, hitting .500 with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs from May 26 to June 1.
  • Trevor Megill remains reliable out of the bullpen, locking down his 13th save in the June 11 victory.

Upcoming Games: A Key Division Test

The Brewers now turn their focus to the Cardinals, with four straight home games:

  • Thursday, June 12 – 4:40 PM CT
  • Friday, June 13 – 5:10 PM CT
  • Saturday, June 14 – 1:10 PM CT
  • Sunday, June 15 – 11:10 AM CT

After the homestand, they travel to Chicago for a two-game set against the Cubs, beginning Tuesday, June 17.

What’s at Stake

With the Cardinals and Cubs close in the standings, this stretch of games could heavily influence the Brewers’ trajectory heading into July. Improved consistency from the pitching staff and continued production from stars like Chourio, Yelich, and William Contreras will be critical if Milwaukee wants to close the gap atop the NL Central.

Stay tuned as the Brewers look to capitalize on their home-field advantage and reignite their push toward the postseason.
