5 Delicious Alcohol Drinks for Fall

The leaves are turning, pumpkins decorate our landscape and the stores are filled with costumes. As the weather starts to turn chilly we start to yearn for warmer drinks, and we hear at Found in Magazine have searched hi and low to find 5 Delicious Alcohol Drinks for Fall. Don’t agree post a comment and give us your best Fall drink.

There might be a couple of hot chocolate drinks in here but who doesn’t love a steaming mug of boozy hot chocolate of a cold autumn day right?

* Gimme S’more – A S’more in a drink?! NO WAY! This has got to be the best of both worlds.

2 tablespoons tablespoons Cardinal Mendoza brandy
1 cup hot cocoa
1 marshmallow

Graham Cracker Liquor

1 liter white rum
1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces
1/2 cup honey

Whisk 1 tablespoon Graham Cracker Liquor, brandy, and cocoa in 12-ounce heat-proof mug. Top with marshmallow and serve.

Graham Cracker Liquor

Mix rum, cinnamon stick, and honey in large jar. Cover and place on sunny window sill. Shake 1 time every day for 4 days

* Salted Butterscotch Hot Chocolate – Salted butterscotch is one of the best things you can treat yourself to. This may seem like a long recipe but the end result is delicious.

2 tbsps granulated sugar
6 ozs scotch (divided)
kosher salt
1/4 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup cocoa powder
3 cups whole milk
4 ozs milk chocolate chips
4 ozs bittersweet chocolate chips
whipped cream

Heat sugar in a small saucepan over medium high heat, swirling gently as it melts until a golden caramel color is reached. Pour in 2 ounces scotch and heavy cream. Whisk until homogenous. Season with a pinch of kosher salt. Pour caramel into a bowl and set aside.

In medium saucepan, stir cocoa with another pinch of salt. Stir in milk, milk chocolate, and bittersweet chocolate. Heat over medium heat until, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted and mixture is hot. Gently whisk to completely homogenize mixture. Whisk in caramel, saving a couple teaspoons for garnish. Add remaining 4 ounces Scotch.

Pour hot cocoa into mugs, top with whipped cream, and swirl with reserved caramel sauce. Serve immediately.

* Bacon, Bourbon, and Hazelnut Hot Chocolate – Bacon is one of life’s greatest pleasures. There are many bacon drink recipes out now but this is one of the best I’ve had.

4 thick-cut slices of bacon
1/2 teaspoon corn starch
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
pinch kosher salt
3 cups whole milk
4 ounces milk chocolate chips
4 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
4 ounces Frangelico
4 ounces Bourbon
Whipped cream and chopped toasted hazelnuts for garnish

Cook bacon in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-low heat until crisp and rendered. Transfer bacon to a paper towel-lined plate. Pour fat into a small bowl and stir in corn starch with a fork.

In medium saucepan, stir cocoa with sugar and salt. Stir in reserved bacon fat/corn starch mixture, milk, milk chocolate, and bittersweet chocolate. Heat over medium heat until, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted and mixture is hot. Gently whisk to completely homogenize mixture.

Add Frangelico and bourbon. Pour into individual serving cups. Top with whipped cream, chopped toasted hazelnuts, and a strip of bacon. Serve immediately.

* Hot Caramel Apple Cider – Nothing says fall like apple cider. The smell fills up your home and you know Halloween and Thanksgiving are just around the corner.

4 mug’s worth of apple cider
1 mug’s worth of caramel vodka (you can always use less (or more?) if you want, this makes it fairly strong)
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 cup brown sugar (mostly for rimming your glasses, taste the cider before to see if it needs sugar or not)

Mix all of the ingredients above in a large pot. (Edit: Heating up the cider before adding the vodka ensures that the alcohol doesn’t burn off! Heat it up to your desired temperature and then add the vodka.)

Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until liquid just begins to steam (don’t over heat or else the alcohol will burn off).

While cider is warming up, take your mugs or glasses and rim them with brown sugar.

Pour cider into your rimmed glasses, serve and enjoy!

* Hot Toddy – What is a fall drink list without the hot toddy?

Brandy or Scotch also work well in a toddy, but the vanilla sweetness of good bourbon is always a good choice

1 oz (2 tablespoons) bourbon
1 tablespoon mild honey
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup boiling-hot water

Put bourbon, honey, and lemon juice in a 6-ounce mug. Top off with hot water and stir until honey is dissolved.
