Rockstar or No? – Corey Taylor, Kayne West

Music in general breaks all barriers. We can all listen to a song with no thought of color, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or religion. Yet, many artists themselves still make it a point to make it seem like there is not enough equality. Lets actually talk about unfair. Unfair is the fact that most radio stations, award shows, and entertainment/news magazines and TV shows, talk about pop, hip-hop, rap, and R&B artists as rock stars. Yes, I get that the term could be used loosely……as in: ‘He plays ball like a Rockstar’. Ok, I get that, but how does real Rock n’ Roll get tossed aside compared to artists that don’t play instruments, don’t write their own music, and in some cases can’t even really sing?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not a metal head. I don’t hate certain types of music. In fact, I listen to all genres, and I can sing a long to many top hits on the radio today. So tell me this……where did it all go wrong?  How can the very heart of the music industry turn their backs on Rock n’ Roll? Gene Simmons (of Kiss) has been quoted to say that ‘Rock n’ Roll is dead’, and then Dave Grohl (of Foo Fighters) has been quoted to say that ‘Rock is Alive and Well’. I say, it’s alive and well for those that have been in the industry a while with strong roots both with fans and the industry. I love Dave Grohl (actually one of my favorite artists of all time), but new rock artists are struggling in an era that is lost on Rock Music.

Recently, Kayne West made a statement that he is ‘The Greatest Living Rockstar of all Time’. OMFG! This itself is proof of how f’d up the music industry has become. Why? Because there are actually some people that agree with him, due to Grammy’s that he his won, etc. But, isn’t that the point here? He can’t even sing without auto-tune. (google his 2015 Grammy Performance). I think Corey Taylor (of Slipknot and Stone Sour) has made a great statement with the video we have shared with this article. He man not have the Grammy’s that Kayne has, but he has more talent in his a$$-nuggets than Kayne will ever fathom.
