Van Careens into Lake Michigan
Today 08-10-2015 around 12:31pm a silver van heading northeast on Memorial Drive lost control and plunged over the cliff into Lake Michigan just inside Two Rivers. Witnesses on the scene claim that the cause of the accident could have been due to a backup at the stop light. Found In Wisconsin reporters spoke to officers on the scene and they reported that it was a woman driver, and she had to be removed by emergency crews as she was trapped in the van with her seat belt on, and that she only suffered minor injuries. They did not make mention of any additional passengers. They also said that weather was not a factor but could not confirm nor deny if speed was a factor.
The accident scene showed that the van had left the roadway knocking down a hospital sign and headed towards the cliffs. It then hit a pine tree at the edge of the cliff shearing it in half where it then proceeded down approximately a 30 foot drop off landing in the water on its driver side. The scene wasn’t cleared until after around 2:30 pm.
