Pack pulls out a win against the Jets and Wilkerson gets ejected
This has been a weird week. First, there were a bunch of people ejected in the Brewer game and a guy got socked by a fast ball which spurred the fight which lead to the ejections and then I witnessed an ejection in a NFL game which I had never seen before.
If you would have asked me at the end of the first quarter what I thought I would have said…”I don’t know. We might lose.” All the “experts” picked the Pack to win. Vegas, the NFL all of them, but the way they played the first quarter you wouldn’t have guessed it. Finally in the second quarter we started to piece it together, and for most Packer fans it ended too close to call Jets 24 – Packers 31.
GREEN BAY PACKERS | ||||
Passing | Cmp | Att | Yds | TDs |
A. Rodgers | 25 | 42 | 346 | 3 |
Rushing | Car | Yds | Avg | TDs |
E. Lacy | 13 | 43 | 3.3 | 0 |
A. Rodgers | 6 | 28 | 4.7 | 0 |
Receiving | Rec | Yds | Avg | TDs |
J. Nelson | 9 | 209 | 23.2 | 1 |
D. Adams | 5 | 50 | 10 | 0 |
This wasn’t even the the most exciting part of the game. First, in the third quarter after a successful Packer two-point conversion Muhammad Wilkerson was ejected after taking swings at multiple Packers in the end zone.Sheldon Richardson was also involved and was also flagged for a personal foul. Wilkerson was seen on camera smiling broadly and waving to the Lambeau crowd as he was being escorted off the field by Brown County Sheriffs, however I’m sure he won’t be so happy when New York Jets coaches review the tape and a fine is handed down from the NFL commissioner.
Then to add icing to the cake what would have been a game tieing touchdown was wiped out by a timeout called by Jets Offensive Coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. Marty was running down the sideline trying to get the attention of Head Coach Rex Ryan to call a timeout. The head coach is the only one that can call a timeout from the sidelines, however the official cannot turn around to see whose calling the timeout so when he heard someone yell timeout he just assumed it was the head coach and called it therefore negating the approximately 45 yard TD pass.
Next week the Pack heads to Detroit for a noon game.
